Top sources for PPC advertising in 2010

Posted by the Author · Leave a Comment

It is hard to know what PPC sites convert best and which ones are most affordable. Learning the hard way can cost money and waste time, so here is a quick review of some top sites for 2010:

1) Google Adwords

Google adwords is still one of the top dogs. Yes, it is true that it is becoming more competitive and expensive, but it’s still hard to ignore. Why? Because it has the most traffic.

However, traffic means nothing if it doesn’t profitably convert. Therefore, it is important that you are sure that your ads convert and that you are paying a proper price for advertising before you go crazy with Google. A good thing to do is test your ads at more affordable places before you do a big adwords campaign.

2) MSN Adcenter

For some reason MSN gets ignored amongst the Googles and Yahoo’s; however, it is probably one of the best places out there. It still has great traffic, and, what sets it apart is that it is usually more affordable and less competitive. These characteristics make it a must for any good PPC campaign.

3) Yahoo Search Marketing

Yahoo is another place to consider for similar reasons as Google: It has great traffic. Yet, also like Google, competition and high prices have made Yahoo a bit less attractive. Again, before you go nuts with Yahoo, make sure you have tested your ads affordably and fined tuned them into conversion machines.

4) Searchfeed

Although not the traffic monsters as the big players, Searchfeed can be a great place to start testing ads at decent prices. The conversion rates can be good once you get a feel for the type of traffic you are getting.  You can check them out at Searchfeed.com.

5) Looksmart

Similar to Searchfeed, Looksmart also has less competition and affordable prices. It’s been around since 1997 and has been known to get some pretty good conversion rates. Odds are it will continue to be a good option in any PPC campaign

6) Search123, Ehance, Miva, Adbrite

If you don’t like the ones mentioned above, try any of these 4. They will all vary in prices, traffic, and conversions, but depending on your offer, one might work better than the other.

The key to successful PPC is testing and trying new things. Therefore, it is important to try more than one PPC network. If you are just starting out, it might be best to try the smaller networks and work your way up. This way you will learn a lot, and not blow your budget. Good luck!

Tips and Tricks for Effective Forum Marketing in 2010

Posted by the Author · Leave a Comment

You probably have heard by now that forum marketing is becoming very powerful. As forums grow online, there are more and more marketing opportunities. Here is why you should do it:

1) Learn more about your market

Markets are really communities, and like any community, they have places where they congregate and talk. Online this would be forums. By being involved in such forums, you will learn a lot of valuable information about their wants and needs which will help you develop the right products and marketing.

2) Build up authority in your market

By adding value to a forum in your market, people will start to look to you as a source of knowledge. Eventually they will start to see that you are someone who knows a lot about a certain topic, and therefore will have a greater likelihood of purchasing from you.

3) Get backlinks to your site

In forum marketing you can create a signature box that shows under each of your posts. In this box you can say a quick think about your offer and add your link. This creates a backlink to your site and also will help bring traffic to your website.

4) Find the right forums

Before you start find the top 5 or so forums in your market. Some forums are too small to worry about so just ignore those. If you can’t find any forums, you might want to consider switching markets because it is likely too small.

5) Do not directly promote yourself

In your posts your goal should be to add value to the conversation and to the forum. Do not simply just promote your offer. This won’t work and will likely be against the rules. Find important information to share with the community – quality over quantity works best.

6) Watch first, post later

If you aren’t quite an expert in your market, then you might want to watch the forum first to learn about what is going on. This will allow you to understand the nature of the community and what tends to interest them. When you do start posting, you will be in a much better spot.

7) Consider outsourcing

Since forum marketing is so powerful, and also can be time consuming, you might want to consider outsourcing your posts. You can hire people to post a few times daily in the top forums you found. Make sure they understand the purpose of forum marketing and are always adding value to the community.

8) Start right now!

A lot of forums work on authority. The people who have been around a lot get a lot of followers and readers and the newbies may not have as much power. Therefore, it is important to join the forums and start contributing as soon as possible.
